More rules for Bangladesh
Not allowed
- Narcotics and drug paraphernalia
Allowed with conditions
- Medicines
- Importing any medicine needs a license, except small quantities for personal use, subject to conditions set by rules. Send only what the patient needs, with the prescription. Medicines with narcotic ingredients also come under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
Before you ship to Bangladesh
- Tax-free limit
- Consignments worth Tk 2,000 (about $16) or less, counting the goods alone without freight and insurance, clear free of all duties and taxes if the duty and tax due would also be Tk 2,000 or less. The relief doesn't cover goods declared as having no commercial value, restricted goods, or anything commercial. There is no separate duty-free allowance for gifts or used personal effects sent by courier: above the de minimis they pay normal duties and taxes.
- Receiver ID
- National Identity Card (NID) or passport needed. For gift and low-value (de minimis) consignments to a private person, the courier must file a copy of the receiver's National ID card or passport with customs. Businesses give their VAT registration number or a customs-issued Consignee Identification Number (CIN). Other personal boxes are also declared in the receiver's name, so have the NID or passport copy ready before you ship.
- Transit
- 3-5 business days from the Gulf, the UK, and Europe; 4-7 from North America and Australia
